1961 Morris Mini 850

1961 Morris Mini 850 CKD – Fully Restored New Zealand Car

A very special example of an early 1961 Morris Mini 850, with genuine New Zealand CKD (Completely Knocked Down) history. This vehicle would have arrived in New Zealand as a kit set and been assembled locally, making it an interesting part of New Zealand's motoring history.

To our knowledge, this Mini has spent all of its life in the South Island, and we purchased the car a few years ago before undertaking a complete restoration in our own workshop.

The restoration has been carried out to a very high standard, with the car receiving a comprehensive mechanical and cosmetic rebuild. The original 850cc engine has been completely rebuilt, along with the gearbox. The suspension has also been thoroughly renewed, with all-new suspension components fitted.

Both the front and rear subframes have been completely removed, stripped down and rebuilt, ensuring the car is not simply a cosmetic restoration but a properly restored and mechanically sorted example.

The body has undergone a full professional panel and paint restoration, presenting beautifully while retaining the character and appearance of an early Mini.

The interior has also been completely renewed, including new upholstery, carpets and hood lining.

The car is fitted with Cooper S-style wheels and drums, giving the little Mini a great stance while remaining in keeping with its period character.

I have a British Heritage certificate for this car and all receipts for work done
